Women Lead Webinar Series
Exclusively for Professional Access Pass members
How can leaders best navigate today’s challenging circumstances and guide their teams to the “next normal”?
The cascading crises of 2020 — a global pandemic, economic uncertainty, racial injustice, and political division — are likely to persist for the foreseeable future. Our workplaces are experiencing an ongoing period of transition, and the changes disproportionately affect women, people of color, and those with lower incomes. In times like these, mindful leadership matters more than ever.
For guidance on becoming a more mindful leader, Forté has invited Lili Powell, an associate professor at University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business, to join us for this live webinar and Q&A. Lili, who is also a trained yoga teacher, will introduce skills for leading mindfully.
The discussion will include:
- Maintaining your own grit and grace, and encouraging these attributes in others
- Seeing, naming, taming, and reclaiming your experiences as a leader
- Shaping the collective attention, resilience, and direction of the people you lead
The webinar is presented by:
Lili Powell, Professor, University of Virginia (Darden School of Business)
How can a leader most effectively influence and inspire a team to achieve worthy goals? Exploring this question has been at the heart of Dr. Lili Powell’s career. From her academic work and surprising insights from acting and yoga, she has come to believe that by teaching leaders to train their own attention and cultivate goodwill, they can more skillfully exercise a positive influence in their own lives and workplaces. She writes on “Leading Mindfully” and has developed innovative courses in mindful leadership and leadership presence for diverse audiences, ranging from MBAs, to working executives, to interprofessional groups of healthcare providers. Powell holds a joint appointment in the Darden School of Business and the School of Nursing at the University of Virginia, where she also serves as Director of the Compassionate Care Initiative.
