Meet Irene Chang Britt, Experienced Board Chair and Committee Chair

Irene Chang Britt is an experienced independent board director and former Fortune 500 C-Suite executive. She currently serves on the boards of fashion intimates retailer Victoria’s Secret and Co. (NYSE: VSCO – Chair, Human Capital and Compensation Committee), pet health technology innovator IDEXX (NASDAQ: IDXX), daytime dining café First Watch Restaurant Group (NASDAQ: FWRG), premium senior living Amica Senior Lifestyles (OTPP-owned, Chair of the Board), digital e-commerce accelerator MikMak, allergen-free food start-up Partake Foods (Lead Director), digital boardroom aggregator start-up JustBoardrooms, and is an advisory board member of Peloton Capital Management in Canada. In addition to her current boards, Irene previously served on these public company boards: Dunkin Brands Group Inc. (Chair, N&CG), Brighthouse Financial Inc. (Chair, N&CG), Tailored Brands Inc. (Chair, N&CG), TerraVia Inc. (Chair of the Board) and Sunoco, Inc.

She is a National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Board Leadership Fellow and a frequent speaker on both leadership and corporate governance best practices.

Irene is a highly accomplished former Fortune 500 President, with a long track record of transforming businesses to achieve industry-leading growth. From 2012 through 2015, she was President/CEO, Pepperidge Farm Inc. and Senior Vice President, Global Baking and Snacking for the Campbell Soup Company, capping a decade of executive service at the company that also included tenure as Global Chief Strategy Officer, President of North America Foodservice and Vice President & General Manager, Sauces and Beverages.

Before joining Campbell Soup in 2005, Irene held a number of leadership positions within Kraft Foods / Nabisco in both the U.S. and Canada, including Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Salted Snacks division and Post Cereal division. Before that, she spent more than a decade at Kimberly-Clark, where she held key assignments in marketing, sales and R&D leadership.

Irene has been honored with a number of recognitions for her business and community accomplishments, including Board Prospects Top 30 AAPI Directors (2023), Women INC. Most Influential Corporate Board Directors (2019), NACD Directorship 100 (2017), a Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics (LEAP) Award (2014) and New Jersey Business Hall of Fame Award (2011).

Irene earned her B.A. from the University of Toronto and MBA, with honors, from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. She and her husband enjoy cooking, traveling, kayaking and reading, and try to visit their adult children as much as possible.

Julie leads the North American Board Practice of Spencer Stuart and was a long-standing board member. She consults with corporate boards, working with companies of all sizes from the Fortune 10 to pre-IPO companies. She has conducted more than 1,500 board director assignments.

A recognized expert on governance topics, Julie is regularly quoted in The New York Times, Financial Times, BusinessWeek, Time magazine, and The Wall Street Journal. Julie has been selected as one of the 50 Most Influential People in Governance by NACD/Directorship Magazine every year since the award’s inception.

Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Julie was the executive director of the corporate board resource at Catalyst, where she managed all board of directors’ activities and worked with companies to identify qualified women for their boards. Julie began her career as a consultant with McKinsey & Company.

Julie is a graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with an M.B.A. in corporate finance. She serves on the board of directors of Seacoast Bank, The Jackson Laboratory, CityMeals, The Palm Beach Food Bank, and as a commissioner for the Women’s Refugee Commission.
