Thanks for the Feedback

Lots of thought has gone into the question of giving feedback, but the power for change always rests with the person receiving the feedback.

If we can learn how to derive helpful information from the feedback given to us – even when we suspect it is “off base, unfair, poorly delivered, and, frankly, we’re not in the mood” – we can go much farther in life.

Ann Garrido, Consultant and Leadership Expert, will facilitate this interactive session based on the leading book Thanks for the Feedback: The Science and Art of Receiving Feedback Well by authors Sheila Heen and Douglas Stone. Ann will share strategies for working with the internal triggers that block our capacity to hear and understand feedback.

Participants will come away with new ways:

  • to calm the jitters involved in receiving difficult feedback;
  • to inquire about the meaning and intent of the feedback; and,
  • to solicit ongoing, helpful feedback from others.

This webinar is presented by:

Ann GarridoAnn Garrido
Consultant and Leadership Expert

Ann is a Consultant with Triad Consulting and an Associate Professor of Homiletics at Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis, Missouri where she has taught leadership, conflict management, and preaching, in addition to other courses. She currently serves as Senior Editor of Human Development magazine, and is the author of two books on supervision, focused on walking the talk of your convictions and management focused on service to others.

She once had a fistfight break out amongst participants outside her “Difficult Conversations” course, but maintains that this simply enriched the discussion. Ann holds a Masters and a Doctorate from Aquinas Institute and a B.A. in History and African Studies from Kalamazoo College.

She often works out her own frustrations in the kitchen and is unduly proud of her cherry pie.
