All women professionals with current or anticipated leadership responsibilities, and those who are not in management positions, but are expected to lead and influence others in the course of their work…this program is for you! The Duke Leadership Program (DLP) is based on the principle that every leader has an individual style. The goal of the program is to help you systematize your intuitive leadership skills in an intense and supportive environment, learning to capitalize on your strengths while overcoming leadership challenges.
You will work with an executive coach to plan how you will use the information and insights learned throughout the week to build on strengths and overcome leadership challenges. This Personal Development Plan (PDP) will serve as a road map for addressing new leadership challenges after completion of the course.
In addition, you will use your developing leadership skills to create a plan addressing a specific leadership project. To complete this Organizational Change Initiative (OCI), you will be divided into small working groups to provide and receive feedback from your peers and an executive coach.

Our five-day flagship leadership program attracts leaders from around the world, from organizations with a variety of missions and goals.
What you share is a common desire to explore:
- How, as leader of the organization, you can lead change, drive innovation and quickly respond to market demand.
- How do you create and cultivate the culture you need to succeed as an organization.
- How do you create vision, communicate it throughout the organization and stay on-point during challenging times.
- How do you become an effective force multiplier in your organization and in the world to drive outsized results.
- How do you build and motivate cross-functional, diverse and global teams.
- Plan, in partnership with world class faculty, peers and coaching, a roadmap for achieving the results when you return to work.
Faculty Director Maura O’Neill is an award-winning faculty member of the Haas Business School at UC Berkeley. She has founded companies and held executive leadership positions in business, a U.S. Presidential Administration as well as civic and industry positions. She has driven innovative, large-scale change in each sector. Known for her cutting edge work on innovation, Maura’s academic research has been on narrow-mindedness and the errors it leads to in science, medicine, political decision-making, and business.
Before you arrive in Berkeley, you will complete an exercise on what your personal leadership aspirations are, a 360 assessment of your leadership attributes.
You will work with accomplished peers, top UC Berkeley faculty, and industry thought leaders, to create a personalized plan to unlock innovation and growth, create energy and urgency, and drive results. You will return to your organization with a new set of skills, grounded in research and a plan you can put to use immediately.
This program is grounded in the four defining principles of Berkeley Haas: Confidence without Attitude; Student Always (voracious learner); Question the Status Quo (innovate); and Beyond Yourself.

Professionals who use data analytics, business modeling, and statistics will find techniques and tools in this program to operate with confidence when faced with complex decisions. Those creating a structure within their organization that enables creativity, innovative thinking, and sound decision-making will gain insights to optimize their design. Managers who want to optimize effectiveness and profitability within their organizations, and those making marketing or product decision with data, regardless of their quantitative experience, will benefit from this program.
Pivotal business decisions often involve multiple players, potentially conflicting objectives, and emerging market factors that drive long-term changes in business environments. Many organizations do not have structures in place to pool data much less leverage it well. To make reliable strategic decisions, you’ll need to develop a deep understanding of how to interpret data in light of external forces. This program will approach challenges in a systematic way, and will help you become empowered and more confident with the process of making both short and long-term data-driven decisions.
Most importantly, you will learn to look at your organizations’ data from a fresh and more in-depth perspective and will be able to think ahead of the curve to strengthen your competitive position in the marketplace.

Understanding financial information is essential for assessing a company’s health, and making strategic decisions that significantly impact the company’s performance.
How do you analyze and interpret key financial statements? What are the key drivers of value creation? How do you link performance measures to corporate or business unit strategy?
Most business leaders need to deepen their knowledge and expertise in the area of financial information analysis. Armed with the ability to interpret and apply financial information to their decision-making process, executives will enhance their leadership capabilities and profile, as well as the company’s potential for success.
Financial Analysis for Leaders is designed to provide you with the foundational knowledge of finance and accounting. It will demystify core concepts, clarify financial frameworks and help you unlock the power of financial information analysis through hands-on practice.
The objective is to help you be a more effective leader and to add more value to your organization, through financial information analysis.
All leaders, regardless of their background and area of focus, can benefit in their decision-making from well-informed financial information analysis.
Led by Berkeley Haas Professor, Panos N. Patatoukas, recently named by Fortune Magazine as a Top-10 business school Professor under 40, this five-day program features sessions on corporate financial reporting, cost management, value-based management, financial statement analysis, and corporate valuation.
Each day, we introduce and apply key concepts from finance and accounting through a combination of interactive lectures, exercises, case studies, and other real-world applications.
A distinctive feature of the program is a capstone, real-time project, which builds on all the concepts taught in the program.
The capstone project will help you unlock the power of financial information analysis through hands-on practice with a real-world company.
